REQUIRED TOOLS & SUPPLIES:

Polyester Basic Starter Kit

Foundational Supply List (Get from Allied Piano and Finish LLC, AlliedPianoFinish.com)

  1. Special polyester lacquer (1 oz or 4 oz)
  2. Konig hardener paste (10 gram tube)
  3. Intensive black dye
  4. Grey hue (Asian) black color
  5. Sandpaper sheets 120, 220, 400, 1000, 1500, 2000
  6. Menzerna 3.5 inch foam buffing pads
  7. Menzerna 3 inch hook and loop pad backing plate
  8. Menzerna liquid compound/polish AP1, AP2, AP3, AP4
  9. Backing plate drill adapter (5/8 inch to 1/4 inch)
  10. Small variable speed drill (or small polisher w/ backing plate and pads)
  11. Pipettes (for precise controlled drops of dye or color)
  12. Aerosol can of black lacquer
  13. Small touch up brush
Grocery store:

. Bathroom size Dixie Cups (for mixing polyester)

Hobby Lobby:

. Popsicle sticks (for mixing polyester)

Home Depot:

. Painters tape 2 inch

Walmart:

. Heavy duty 2 inch clear packing tape

Paint supply: (For Satin finish Jobs)

. 3M Scotch-Brite pads

. 0000 steel wool

Add the following items for larger size jobs (like reconditioning a full top lid):

Corded Electric Polisher (Makita 9237CX2 7 inch polisher)

8 inch Wool Compound Pad used with 7 inch hook and loop backing pad

Finish Compound Polish Solid Bar GW16
